We create a new and unique profile for each coffee we roast. Although the profiles are different, our approach is always the same, to highlight and accentuate the flavours created at the farm and mill. This means we don’t label our coffees as espresso, filter, dark or light roast. This coffee is omni-roast, meant to be delicious however you brew. We believe the heart of speciality is keeping the identity and character of every coffee intact and alive, no matter the brew method.

Description

This delicious coffee is a combination of lots provided by the Rungeto Farmers Cooperative Society. With crops supplied by their Kii, Karimikui and Kiangoi factories, that are all based within Rungeto. Located 190km North of Nairobi in the Kirinyaga region by the foot of Mount Kenya. Farmers grow their crops on small plots that benefit from the rich and fertile volcanic soil and warm, humid climate.

This washed coffee is comprised of crops that naturally mutated to form peaberries. Rather than two coffee beans within the coffee cherry, a peaberry contains one. It’s often believed that this causes more heightened, intense and complex flavours in the final cup. Cherries were sorted before being removed, and the coffee parchment was fermented in concrete tanks. Following this, the parchment was brushed and washed by fresh mountain water from the Mount Kenya National Park, removing any remaining mucilage attached to the parchment.
